Mira Networks (Mira), has been firmly in Moneyweb’s sights over the past few years. Streams of complaint emails have flooded the inbox of Moneyweb’s Julius Cobbett regarding the apparent illegal debits charged to cellphone accounts. Is Mira the uncaring ‘bad boy’ of the cellular premium services industry? “Not so,’ says Mira’s General Manager, Deon Odendaal.
This journalist took to Twitter over the Easter weekend, crowdsourcing Mira complainants. Robust Twitter comment followed. Mira wanted to talk to us and we wanted to talk to it.
Dr P’s case
A Johannesburg doctor (we will call him Dr P) complained to Moneyweb last month after discovering that his prepaid Cell C account has been billed R20 per week for the past twelve months – for subscribing to the “Total Embarrassing” video service.
Dr P denied ever subscribing to or using this service.
